When in Rome…

City: Amphoe Mae Taeng, Thailand
Weather: 85°, cloudy
Site: Woody's House
Activity: Sleeping, going to dinner, hanging out with Thais

These photos aren't the best but they are from one of my favorite nights on this trip. We stayed overnight with the elephant camp people in the village where the farm is. The owner of the camp welcomed us into his home and took us out around his town with two of his friends. It was great hearing what Thailand is like to grow up in. From the morning announcements on the city PA to growing up around water buffalo. The people all live in these amazing open air treehouse like spaces. There isn't really an “inside” and an “outside” as you can see from the scooter in the living room and the breakfast nook in the trees.
And guess what we had for dinner… iguana soup. These massive lizards come out like once a year so our friends were super excited to have it. It was terrible. Little pieces of black, bumpy skin floating in a spicy broth.
